Introduction
Thursday's Game Awards delivered plenty of surprises, but one of the biggest came early in the show: FromSoftware isn’t done with Elden Ring yet. Their next game, Elden Ring: Nightreign, is a standalone spin-off set for release in 2025—not a direct sequel to the original.
The trailer reveals a lot to unpack. It showcases a cast of distinctive characters navigating and climbing through a reimagined version of Elden Ring’s opening area, Limgrave. As a fiery blue ring consumes the land, Nightreign appears to have elements of a battle royale. However, the focus remains on three players battling iconic Elden Ring bosses, with no PvP mechanics shown.
The teaser raises more questions than it answers, but you won’t have to wait long to learn more about this intriguing spin-off. I’ve had the chance to play it, so stay tuned to PC Gamer for a detailed look at what Elden Ring: Nightreign has in store.
